Application Process

If you’re interested in applying to our program, please make sure to check out the other sections of this website to find out if we might be a good fit for you.

If you’re ready to dive right in, here are the steps we generally* take during the application process:

Create and Submit an AmeriCorps Application

An AmeriCorps application (plus references) is required for enrollment. Click here to go to our online AmeriCorps application (you will be required to register for If for some reason the application is not working or you’re experiencing difficulty with it, you can click here for technical support. You may also send your cover letter and resume via email to However, the AmeriCorps application will eventually be required.

Introductory Phone Call

Once we receive your application and/or resume, we will reply with a confirmation email that your application has been received. We will also work on scheduling an introductory phone call with you. This phone call is intended to help answer any lingering questions you might have about the program and to find out what kinds of experiences you’re looking for. We can help guide you to a position if you’re undecided.  At this time, we are looking for applicants who demonstrate compatible motivations for serving an AmeriCorps term.

If we think that you might be a good fit for our team, we will then recommend for you to interview with the Site Supervisor of the specific position you’re interested.  At this interview, the Site Supervisor and Program Director will be present. We prefer to do these interviews in person, if possible. If you’re from out-of-state, we may try to arrange a Skype interview. If that is not possible, we will conduct a phone interview. [Placement is not guaranteed. We will do all in our power to place quality applicants.]

If you are selected for a position, we will extend an offer on conditions of positive references and background checks. You will have a few days to make the decision to accept.

Enrollment/Background Check

If you are accepted into our program, applicants must pass all necessary state and FBI background checks as required by AmeriCorps.  Once those are cleared, your enrollment paperwork will need to be completed.

*As enrollment deadlines approach, we may move through this process in a slightly different order.
